Die Drei MusketiereLeimbach, Switzerland

The Leimbach district is characterised by buildings set back from the street and plot boundaries, creating green front gardens. The streets function as widened corridors between detached buildings.

The design connects with the residential grain. The northern volume continues the repetitive urban logic and reinforces neighbourhood continuity. A central play and entrance area is introduced at the Wegackerstrasse / Bruderwies intersection. A second volume relates to Oskar Bitterli’s Leimbach church and preserves a mature tree and surrounding green space. Together, the three volumes structure a coherent neighbourhood composition.

A triangular courtyard is formed between library and school, defined by a circular opening in the deck.

The architecture emphasises openness and permeability. The main volume is organised into base, body and crown. The sports hall is partially underground.

A coherent material strategy and sustainable approach complete the project.

Competition design in collaboration with Henley Halebrown, Schnetzer Puskas Engineers and Ghiggi Paesaggi.
